Improving the resolution of 40Ar/39Ar analyses on smaller & younger mica grains.

I have a background in structural geology and geochronology as tools to solve geological problems at different scales; mainly in the Alps and in the Himalayan belt. I decided to enhance my skills in geochronological methods for my PhD thesis. Thus, I am using the 40Ar/39Ar isotopic technique to constrain the timing of rapid exumation in the Eastern syntaxis of the Himalayas. I'm currently using a last generation Noble gas Mass Spectrometer to improve the resolution of the signal on smaller and younger grains of muscovite, and to provide the ages of exhumation to colleauges in the iTECC group. I will also use detrital zircon fission track analysis to provide cooling ages of the source terrains.
