Monsoon dynamics, Climate change and Current research (Or Moesson dynamica, klimaatverandering en huidig onderzoek)

Which is the title of the first “real” lecture that I got to give at the Hogeschool Utrecht last March. The professor (Rob Houtgast) of the Climate Change course was so nice to give me a whole 2-hour lecture slot to tell the students about general monsoon dynamics, climate change and my own research and fieldwork in the Himalaya.

My audience here consisted of high school geography teachers, or last year students studying to become geography teachers. To summarize: People with a lot more teaching experience than me.

After preparing a lecture for a few days, and getting over the nerves, I was finally in front of 30 (soon-to-be) geography teachers.

It turned out to be a great group of interested people, who were up for a good discussion and asked some very difficult questions.

Summing up my experiences: It was great to talk about the different aspects of research in the iTECC project, and to discuss this with people with a different scientific background.
